Scheme Progress - 04 May 2004

The works at Hythe are nearing completion. The majority of the promenade is now open to the public and the improvements to the wave wall should be complete by mid-May.

The rock revetment at The Riviera is also nearing completion and the civils sub-contractor is about to start on the construction of the maintenance gangway. A photograph of the revetment under construction and prior to backfilling is attached. The first rock structure is now constructed with just a small amount of armour rock still to be placed. Of the remaining three structures, work is progressing on two and the third is about to commence. A photograph of the large rock headland is attached showing the core rock in place over the first stage.

On Sandgate Esplanade, work continues at both ends and is slightly behind programme. However, longer sections of promenade are now closed to the public allowing work to progress at a faster rate. A photograph of the highest section of wall at the eastern end of the Esplanade is attached.
