Scheme Progress - 14 May 2004

There is still a small amount of work to complete in Hythe and there is a slight delay on finishing here, which is principally due to the lead in time for the hand railings. However, work is still scheduled to be completed by the last week in May.

The rock revetment at The Riviera is now complete and the civils sub-contractor has started work on the construction of the maintenance gangway. The first (westernmost) rock structure on Marine Walk is also complete. Work is progressing well on the large rock headland (see photos) with all the core material out to the far extent of the structure and much of the rock armour in place around the outer face to the mid-point. Rock deliveries continue (see photo) during high tides and the existing rock structure is being dismantled to provide armour for the new structures.

Work continues on Sandgate Esplanade and is now progressing quicker as longer sections of the promenade are opened up. Preparatory work has also started on the raising of the promenade behind Coast Guard Cottages in Sandgate.
