Progress - 25 June 2004
At
Sandgate Esplanade, work is now essentially complete with
just some tidying up to do. Where possible, the fencing will
be removed but it will be necessary to keep some in place
due to the beach nourishment.
The
eastern section of The Riviera is now complete and work is
well underway on the western section. Work continues on the
raising of the seawall in two locations. Most of the nosing
is now complete and construction has commenced on the slabs.
The
extension pipes to the two sea outfalls are now in place,
the only work remaining here is to trim up the piles and finish
the cross bracing to secure the piles in place.
The
beach nourishment started on 21 June as planned and a further
week of pumping is planned at the first location before the
delivery pipe is moved further east towards Sandgate.
Rock
placement continues on the 3 rock structures and should be
completed in the next 2-3 weeks. Some photographs of the works
are attached.
