Progress - 12 July 2004
Work is
now finished at Sandgate Esplanade and the bulk of the fencing
has been taken down.
All of the concrete slabs on The Riviera
are now complete. The only work remaining is to construct
the rear upstand towards the western end near the Riviera
Road and to replace the uppermost line of rocks to the revetment.
The raising of the seawall continues at Sandgate with construction
of the slabs at the western end nearing completion and the
new rising main is currently being installed at the eastern
end.
The extension pipes to the two sea
outfalls are now in place with the cross bracing completed
and all piles trimmed to their correct length.
The delivery pipe has now been moved
to its second location at Sandgate and the shingle continues
to be pumped ashore and moved into position.
Rock placement continues on the 3 rock
structures. The manhole ring base support to the concrete
walkway on the large curved structure is taking shape. Some
photographs of the works are attached.
